iphone 4 ios 4.3 update to ios 6, save media content while updating?

I realize that I can backup my iPhone and then restore, but does it save my apps? On the apple website it says: "Back up key elements of your device, such as settings, Contacts, Calendars, Notes, and your Camera Roll1. iTunes will not, however, back up media content from your iOS device, such as music, apps, books, movies, and TV shows." What should I do?

If it's all in your iTunes library you can sync it after the update.

And wow your are on very outdated firmware i suggest you always keep your iPhone updated.
