Iphone iOS 4.0 update. Is Multitasking slow for anyone else?

I upgraded to the new iPhone iOS version 4.0 software on Friday and now I'm finding that the multitasking feature is causing my apps to hang and/or crash. Even when I double-tap the "Home" button and remove olf running apps, it still runs very slowly. Is there any way limit the # of apps running at one time or to just have the old apps time out?
 
What iPhone do you have? Because my iPhone 3Gs with a lot of running apps in the background still run smoothly and fast.
 
my jailbreak multitasking is fast so idk bout os 4
