ok my dad just bought an iphone off the internet, since that the phone is in UK format and locked, he had to use smartphone simcard thingy with the simcard he's using (we live in malaysia). the phone can detect the sim at first but when he took it out again for some reason, the phone wont detect it.

so HELP!

Make sure that the iPhone your dad bought, is UNLOCKED. Meaning that it can be used in all Networks. Normally, when you buy phones from a Network Service (like Vodafone, AT&T, Rogers, T-Mobile, etc.) then it will be locked to that network. Also, because it is locked to that network, any SIM Card you use (except the SIM Card of the Network Service) will not be read.

Also make sure that the SIM CARD is still working. Get another phone that is also unlocked (or locked to the Network Service of your SIM Card), then use it. If it works, then your iPhone is Locked.
