Ive been a huge fan of the martial arts for like 10 years now, i know how to box from my grandpa and for 5years ive been weekly hitting the bag learning new combos and getting my hand speed and power at new levels. Ive also been teaching myself body kicks and leg kicks which ive been doing for probley 5 years ago. Im at this new level of speed and power i think i could do damage in MMA competition. Only thing is i havent really took that step into sparring with somebody thats top notch or somebody thats beyong a strong brawler. Im 23 years old, i think im ready do you think its too late? ive read up that there are professional mma fighters that started at age 20-24 so i know its possiable but what do you think? should i learn ground game or more stand up?

nah i think thats fine since you trained in boxing but you should deff start learning ground game and start getting use to sparring

Your never to old to start MMA but it's better to start when your young. This guy at my karate club only joined 2 weeks ago and he's about 30-40 years old and about a month ago a woman also joined and she was in her early 40's. So no, 23 is a good age to start MMA, go for it! :)

my brother started bjj when he was 25 and a relative of mines has started when he was 45! that isnt even old. not even middle aged. i say go for it :)

train hard

Yes, but most had previous experience in martial arts or sport competition, such as collegiate wrestling. Most pro MMA fighters you read about didn't start from scratch at 24. This of course will depend on your own natural ability and what your goals are; as far as I know, you could have all the potential to become a UFC champ or never make it out of your local amateur circuit.

If you don't act now then, YES!
Its never to late, now go go go!

Hell no, it's perfect age. Your done with your crazy teens, now you can focus. To be a contender in MMA takes soul, dedication and perseverance....it has nothing to do with age. I'm 37 and I'm just starting in it if that tells you anything.

Ground game or stand-up??? Tough choice.....not really...stand-up!!!! or ground and pound ....no hugging.
