It depends entirely on how well the previous owners took care of the car.

The passat is a fine car if it was maintained properly.

It will last as long as you want it to last. Cars don't die, owners kill them.

On a scale of 1 - 10 the Passat probably rates a 5 or 6 on the reliability scale. VWs have a spotty service history. Some owners report zero troubles, some owners conplain constantly.

I own 2 VWs a Passat and a Jetta. The Passt ihas had more problems then the Jetta but it's still been a great car.

All German cars are expensive to maintain. Parts aren't cheap and the labor rates to service them are high.

134k miles is a lot of miles. I'd look for something with less miles. Perferably less than 75K of you're really concerned about reliability and maintenance costs.

No VW are cheaper audi there made by the same company the parts are expensive to fix it and there always in the shop i work at a vw dealership in the parts department people complain all the time about there cars.

diesel or petrol engine? It's a bit long in the tooth for a petrol engine unless it's been well looked after.
