I'm considering practicng budah because I need spirituality and something to believe in. I can't believe in god because christianity, muslims, catholics and scientologist all have history of war, killing, rape, molestation and slavery. It seems that budah is the only religion that preaches peace and actually follow through with it. Is there anything bad about the buddah religion?

Buddhism has some good teachings, most specifically on peace which incidentally you will soon see the new Catholic Pope emphasizing. :applause:However Buddhism is more of a philosophy rather than a religion because it merely accepts the teachings of a dead guru :lick ice: rather than worshipping a living Savior who guarantees an eternal salvation.

I'm not sure but I'll tell you one thing - they don't stick their noses in other people's business, or start wars, or impose rules on me

Buddhism is peaceful yes... so is Sikhism, which believes everyone on the planet are equal. Its very spiritual in that God is within everyone and everything, and Sikhi teaches meditation and how to realize the divine within you while in this lifetime (similar to Buddhism) the difference between them, lies in that Sikhi is monotheistic believing in ONE creator, while Buddhism if I remember correctly is more Atheism with philosophy.

BUDDHISM in my opinion, is truly peaceful. i can't recall any wars being fought in its name, unlike christianity. if you're practicing buddhism, you are trying to reach enlightenment through meditation.

Buddhists are still human, so you will find instances where Buddhists have done violent things. There were even violent clashes between Buddhist sects in Japan during the Kamakura period. The difference between Buddhism, and some of the other major religions of the world is that if you get "radical" with Buddhist doctrine you get more and more peaceful. There is nothing in the teachings of the Buddha that would allow one to justify violence and going to war. So while individuals have failed to honor the high standards for peace, the teachings of the Buddha are unquestionably grounded in peace.

Buddhism is also a study of how things are, that means it's good to reflect, own up to short comings and to learn how to avoid them in the future.
