Is feeling guilty or scared to leave a religion evidence it is true?

If certain aspects of God in the Bible bother me and seem highly immoral, but whenever I try to leave religion behind and label the God described in parts of the Abrahamic texts as "immoral" I feel guilty or scared I'm offending God...

is that evidence that God disapproves of me (through the holy spirit?)

or evidence I'm indoctrinated?

How would I know?

Thanks.

Obviously you have never heard about how the devil attacks Christians and tries to rob them of their Faith?
You need to learn to fight the good fight of Faith.
When these thoughts come to your mind, then take out some scriptures to counterattack what you are hearing in your mind.

It is a well known fact that the devil drops thoughts into our heads to see if we will bite on them. He cannot read our minds, but he can watch us to see if we believed his lies.
we show this by acting on the wrong thoughts much like you are doing now.
Or we speak them out of our mouths acting like they are true.

You need to start saying out loud God's Word to each thing that is brought up in your mind.

SAY THIS out loud:

God has not given me a spirit of fear ( doubt, or worry) but of power, love and a sound mind.

Greater is He ( Jesus) that is in me , then he ( the devil) that is in the world.

I hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and a strangers voice I will not listen or follow.

Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

This is fighting the good fight of Faith. Use the Word as Jesus did in the wilderness. and do not let anyone tell you that these wrong thoughts you are getting of fear and doubt are of the Lord.
Those are from the naysayers who hate God.
Do not listen to them ever they side with the devil. They talk out of their flesh.

God even tells us that our flesh sides with the devil on everything because it is enmity against God. It likes to rebel.
Spiritual things are foolishness to the natural man and that is what is talking now out of your mouth against the Lord in your life.
Jesus died for you on the cross, taking all your sins on His back. He loved you before you were even lovable. He gave you life and He took the sin and sickness away from you.

Fight to keep Him in your heart and life.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Satan get your hands off this man right now. Your lies of fear and doubt and guilt are your tools, but I cancel the assignment off his mind now. You are bound. Flee in the mighty name of Jesus. Lord bring forth peace into his mind now. I plead the blood of Jesus around his mind and thoughts now. And loose God's love in its place. Let Your peace Lord be His umpire and he will know, that he knows that Jesus is Lord of his life.
amen

NO
if any aspect of your religion inspires fear or guilt it's the wrong one
If you are secure in your belief you don't need the validation of others believing exactly as you do. If you have doubts you need to make sure everyone agrees with you. No religion is the one true one but the truer ones must be sought.
"Each seeker must find their own path"
Having said that I should add
"When the pupil is ready the teacher will appear"
I'm willing to concede for some Christ is the way.
When you true path appears nothing can stop you from following it.
If you can resist the Judeo/Christian/Islamic faith it's not your path.

It's evidence you are indoctrinated. How would you know? Study the techniques of mind control and see how much of it applies to your own condition.

It sounds to me like you are trying to leave religion behind while still believing (or at least fearing) that God exists. So the appropriate sequence be to decide for yourself whether or not god is imaginary. If you decide that he is, then there's no logic to the concept of offending him. It has no more significance than offending Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny.

Honey God has not given you a spirit of fear but of love and a sound mind just keep in mind that God loved u so much that he gave you choices he wants u to choose to love him on your own. I beg you not to walk away from His love. there is no greater love.

It's evidence that you've been brought up in a religion (usually) and don't want to leave it because you're comfortable with it and don't want to change your beliefs.

I was the same way when I was losing my faith. Eventually, you realize that, by trying to scare people into believing something, the religion loses all credibility and is just trying to get more followers.

For example, in the bible it says "The fools says in his heart 'There is no God'", but if all that stuff happened in the bible (Jesus' miracles, God interacting with people), then there would be no or almost no atheists back then. If there were no atheists back then, what was the point of saying atheists were fools?

God wants you to believe the truth, and that's what you should be seeking out. Maybe the guilt you're feeling is because you know there's some truth there that you can't turn your back on.

You don't specify what you find to be immoral or bothersome, but I do know that there's a lot of wacky stuff recorded in the Bible. But would you trust a book that would deny that some stuff really happened?

If you read the New Testament, you'll see that a lot of the old laws and ways have been trumped by Jesus.

If there is a "god" I can't believe He/She/It would condemn anyone for having an original thought. A truly loving "god' couldn't do such a thing.

Peace & love.

God, would never hurt you or harm you. There have been so many stories as to how the Bible was written and who wrote it. My perception and lets think of this logically .. If God did write a book he wouldn't force people to obey him. That does not sound like God that sounds like a dictator. Don't you think? Isn't the all mighty God supposed to be fearless and humble and giving. Why would God have a human quality like wanting to have control and punishing. When something bad happens its because of Karma and Karma is what you will. I partially believe in God but that is out of habit and I have not been punished .. not yet ;)

For me it was guilt that i COULD be making mistake more than my belief of the religion...

Individual spiritualism and a relationship with what you call god is far more important and far more meaningful than in an organized setting......Or wearing labels of that religion...

It's evidence that Sunday school and perhaps your family made you feel as though you should feel guilty for certain sin, but guilt isn't an emotion from God as conviction is. If you are feeling like you need to stay and it's from your own self then it isn't guilt, if you are feeling guilty because of some sin and like you aren't worthy for God then..join the club no one is. That is your Sunday school talking. Just have to trust your own feelings on it. I would personally instruct you if I were your friend that God is ultimately holy and upon realization of this feelings of reverence and unworthiness can be present, there shouldn't be guilt.

It is evidence of a deep belief that you have there is certainly a God.
That's worth developing.

Indoctrinated? Despite what so many of the kids here say, if you were indoctrinated, not only would you not be on here, you certainly wouldn't be posting this question or having any such concern!

If something is causing you problems/concerns, it's best to ask a trusted person that's knowledgeable in the Scriptures. But it's also okay to admit you have uncertain thoughts on it and put it aside until you're able to digest it more thoroughly too. We're instructed in the Bible to search out a matter to find the truth, and we need the Holy Spirit to properly interpret the Bible...ask for His help with the parts that are causing you issues and wait for clarification (it won't come by listening to the popularity on here.)

My prayers are with you that He will show you the truth and give you some peace and direction, and much blessing.

The biblical/Christian God does not exist. You cannot prove the existence of an object who's mutually exclusive attributes are self-contradictory and render it's existence impossible. All of the attributes the bible and Christians give to God are contradictory and cannot exist at the same time.

Even if he was real, why would you? He is seen in the bible ordering or committing the murder of men, women, children and unborn babies, ordering rape and the sexual slavery of women and the annihilation fo over 100 cities, most of which were innocent. I have Scriptures for anyone who dares say I am lying.

Secondly, the ideas that eternal life is free, that we have free will and that going to hell is voluntary are false prophecies if God intervenes, uses fear of consequences to control us and has plans for us. All of these ideas contradict each other.

If God is benevolent and infallible in love and compassion any attribute given to him such and being vain, jealous, angry, judgmental, using guilt and fear to control you is impossible. The bible contains about 350,000 errors and contradictions. The beliefs and psychology of Christian religion are outdated, contradicting and backwards to human nature and science

I know this ! Used to have similar problem. It's like when you're married to someone who's being unfaithful ! You just feel you can't go on with your relationship, yet you're scared to admit it, fearing the consequences ! I didn't bother too much about my relation to God since I only believe what I can see and feel ! If you take a good look at the World and at the actions people are taking, you must admit everything is but coincidence, sometimes pleasing at other times tragic.

Have a good guilty trip

Not necessarily. If your convicted of the truth and perhaps disagree with it then that doesn't make the truth a lie. I would suggest praying more that God might grant you a better understanding of the things found in Scripture. Don't base all you read simply on your already pre-conceived notion about how society should be. Prayer is key and be PATIENT!
