Is Fullmetal Alchemist any good?

also i heard that the ending was very sad, could you tell me how sad it actually is/ tell me what happens. Also could you provide me with an overview of the story as well tyvm

OMG! Yes! Go watch FMA and FMAB right now!

The show is basically about 2 brothers named Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are alchemists. Alchemy has a law of equivalent exchange. In other words if you want to create something you must lose something else of of equal value. But you must never use alchemy to bring back the dead. When their mother dies, Ed and Al ignore this rule and try to bring their mother back. But the equivalent exchange proves to be too much for them. Ed loses one of his legs and Al loses his entire body. Thinking quickly, Ed sacrifices his right arm to attach Al's soul to a suit or armor. Now the Elric brothers go to search for the Philosopher's Stone, a stone that allows you to do alchemy without the Equivalent Exchange, in order to return their bodies to normal.

Sad? FMA is very sad. I don't know if the ENDING is sad tho, as I have never seen the movie that completes the series. I have yet to watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, but from what I have heard it is even better than FMA!

There are two Full Metal Alchemists: Full Metal Alchemist (FMA) and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood(FMAB).
FMA used to follow the manga but ended up differently, hence brotherhood was made. This version does not have the ending most would suspect and some would consider unhappy (it felt wrong to me).

FMAB follows the manga more precisely and has a better ending (in my opinion). It is also longer, just that you know.

FMA is sad if you want it to be, some might see it as an opportunity. FMAB is not sad, period.

OMG WATCH FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD!!!! the original series is pretty good, but after watching Brotherhood (its just a new take on the story so you can watch it without ever seeing the original and not be lost) i find the original to be crap in comparison. And the ending isn't so much as sad as it is crappy for the original series.

i like FMA but i didnt think the ending itself was really that sad, the manga is the best if you dont mind reading them. but if you prefer animes stick with FMA Brotherhood, its closer to the manga. and all it is is the story of Ed and Al Elric and them trying to find the Philosphere's stone so they can bring their bodies back (well Al's body and Ed's arm + leg) its a good story.

I LOVE fma!!!!!!!! Best anime ever!!!!

Its quite violent more then sad i found, its about two brothers who are alchemists and they try to bring their mother back to life and end up loosing their limbs. So they go on a quest to get back their missing body part. Sounds weird but its AMAZING!! seriously watch it!.
