Okay so I absolutely love going hiking, I'm a runner so I'm pretty fast and efficient. But my problem is, is that I enjoy going up and down the this huge mountain multiple times, and at times my calves get super tight and hurt. I stretch once my muscles warm up, but it still hurts. Once I'm done exercising I typically go home, stretch for about 1 hour, and afterwards my calves feel fine and don't hurt.

Why are my calves hurting so badly? Should I go hiking every other day to avoid this? Am I pushing myself too much?
I also take a break 1-2 days a week on the days I'm extremely sore.

You probably need more rest between hikes if you're getting sore every time.
Also, try to avoid the heavy impact of running downhill. I'm 40 and I'm really starting feel the effects of all the high impact sports I did in my youth.
