I am going to be a freshman in college next year. I have a relatively new laptop at the moment, but am really tempted to replace it with an Ipad 2 now that ive seen it. I understand that there are some problems with that such as printing, and that it may not be as reasonable to use in college. the printing thing isnt really a problem for me because i have mobile me so i can just print it out in the library or something and i dont mind using the iwork apps to do my work. But can anyone tell me if it really is a good idea or not? and if i do get one im planning to get an external keyboard.

No, The Ipad 2 is not a good idea. Laptops provide much more accepted software. Ipads are really nifty. But not enough universities have things geared for them yet. Your more likely to incounter a prof. asking for a certain program that is only available on a laptop.

Also, Laptops are much easier to type with, taking notes and such is much easier on buttens than a touch screen than, take my word for that.

If you feel your laptop just isn't that good in general and want it to feel new when You go to college get a pen drive put your music and stuff on it. Than clear everything you want off and put that stuff back on. or just go through it in general.

Suming up- no not recommended, laptop runs faster. I pad is hard to type with.
Laptop has more programs that are needed.
