My dad is planning to get one. My mom doesn't want it stay indoors because she's afraid that the dog might scratch the floor and bite the furniture. I heard they can stay indoors but I'm not sure if they can sleep outdoors.
It's not appropriate for any dog to sleep outdoors regardless of breed. If your mom is that concerned about being a bad owner, don't get a dog. There is no reason any dog should chew furniture provided you are a good, responsible owner that trains it from the minute you get it. Our dogs have never chewed furniture and we have breeds known for chewing. As for the floor, there are caps you can buy and put on the nails so they don't scratch them. It's worked well on our wood floors. However, if you aren't going to do this properly, there is no point in getting the dog at all. It doesn't sound like your mom is into this, which means the dog is going to be the one that suffers. Better to spare it the suffering.
really?
why would you get a pet dog just to keep it outside? You have to train dogs not to chew on things, and have you ever heard of cutting a dogs nails? seems like you shouldn't have a dog at all...be careful it might poop in the yard!
for one any dog can be trained to be good and not tare anything up. To have best results take them for a walk everyday. Its good for you and the dog. When walking them make them walk beside you not infront because that makes them the boss. But otherwise it depends on the temperature that is outside as to weather it is safe for a dog. If it is cold to you its probably the same for the dog and if its hot for you its definatly hot for the dog. I have never felt its fair for a dog to live outside because whats the point in even having it? Dogs are part of the family they should be treated so.
