friends and gossip about people that ? they work with? my office manager and the accountant chick always talk smack about people and it's really getting under my skin. i'm new to this job and i've been working there for about 3-4 weeks. i'm trying to get along with everyone but they are making it hard.
 
No, this is considered appropriate and preferred behavior. Why is it bothering you. If you don't like it, maybe you should consider a job as a hermit, or a street bum.

What are you, some kind of sociopath? What have you got against people having a little fun?
 
It is very unprofessional. If it is in private it is their business ( although rude) but doing it anywhere that it can be overheard is strongly discouraged in most workplaces.
