Is it practical to replace my 1997 Dodge Dakota with a 1999 Jeep Wrangler?

Oh sorry - the 99 Wrangler has 58000 miles and other than a rip in the drivers seat, it is spotless inside.
The Dakota is rusting around the rear tires and has 158,000 miles on it. Trade in value is about $1500 at best (V6 auto with new tires, extended cab). It's paid for so it is not like we are making payments on it still.
The Wrangler was in a crash and had the front and right side panels replaced / paint job is nice but the hinge of the door has a speck of rust starting. Asking price $8490 for the 4 cyl auto Sport Ed, alloy wheels, AC, and hard top included. The dealer said they'd give me a good rate for a loan.
I can't decide. I've always wanted a Wrangler since I was in kindergarten and my husband thought he always wanted a Dakota (for about 6 months) and then when we got it, he hated it. He doesn't want to feel the same about the Wrangler but I am sure I'll love it. Its a Wrangler!!!!

Wranglers are awesome, but the 4cyl ones are not. They are known for falling apart after 100k miles. I had a 6cyl for 3 years and loved it but had to sell it.
