well im new to this whole credit check thing and i was going to sign up for a new telus mobile phone and a plan but well my mom got kinda worried about it then got all upset when she saw that id need my sin number to do a credit check then she told me it would be better if i walked into telus or call in to do a phone activation. i know all about identity theft and i know the site is in a 128 bit encryption cause i know alot about computers and encryption's but still she doesn't trust it..

soo im just wondering how safe is it if i used my sin on the website?

It's pretty safe. I haven't heard of one issue with identity theft through them, and most people I know have gotten their accounts off the internet.
Walking into a telus store is more expensive, and then someone has access to your account and can add or not add as many features as they want.
It happens.

It's no different than doing on-line banking. There is also no chance of human error like what you might encounter by walking into a TELUS store for the same service.
