It's not a sin to be rich. There are good Christians who are very rich and they give some of their wealth in good advocacy and philanthropic activities.

Yes I'm sorry but the bible explicitly details how we should cast off our wealth... it's only a hindrance to us =)

Apparently it is as difficult as a camel passing through the eye of a needle.

The supposed followers of the prophet Issa/Jesus, 'alaihi salaam, were told that in order to follow him they must sell all they possessed so as to rely solely on the providential care of Allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala, give the money they had made from selling their possessions to the poor and then, and only then, would they be living according to the message he was sent to bring to them.

Further, they were told that they could either belong to and be ruled by the One God or they could belong to and be ruled by the material aspects of this life but that they could not serve or belong to both.

When you look around, how many true Christians do you see as even those in the majority of religious orders live in opulent luxury and ease?

ADD: It is both sad and somewhat humorous to see how many Christians have twisted, distorted and altered the teachings found in the injels/gospels so as to turn the same into a form of consumerism/materialism and have altered the injels so as to make them into the "gospel of prosperity", as uniquely American phenom as they mindlessly pave their own personal road to hell by doing the same.

The Bible says, "That money is the root of all evil." Not that money WAS evil. It is what you do with your money that is evil. Does it become your God, do you spend it wisely, do you let it control your life,do you speed it as a good steward, do you share it with the poor, the sick, the ones less fortunate. So, you can be rich and be a Christian. King David was rich, Abraham was rich, King Solomon was rich also. Josheph of Amerthea that offer his tomb for Jesus to be buried in was a rich man, and more, but they were wise with there money as we should be, with little money or lot of money.
Money should never consume us, then it is a sin.

It is not sinful to be rich, or own a plane or a mansion. The sinful part happens when your motives become clouded. God said " the Love of money, is the root of all evil ". When you allow greed and possession to creep into your blessings, whether it's money or people or land, it starts to become worrisome and you think about all you have to lose.
The more you think about hanging onto your possessions, the less you think about God. That is called idolatry, for you have now allowed your possessions to possess you, and they have become your god. The bible says, " it is easier to ride a camel through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to find God. If your rich in money or lands or whatever, just keep it in perspective, and allow God to continue to take the lead.

Yes. Jesus said "It is easier for a camel" etc.

Lenny Bruce (another Jewish preacher) said "Someone who has two shirts when someone else has none is not a true Christian."

It is sinful if you value your riches and material possessions more than God. Look at Matthew 19:20-24 for the parable of the rich young man.


The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept; what am I still lacking?" Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." But when the young man heard this statement, he went away grieving; for he was one who owned much property. "And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” (NASB) Matthew 19:20-24


Jesus was not saying that one cannot be rich. Nor was He saying that God rejects rich people because they are rich. Even Abraham, Job, King David, and King Solomon were very wealthy men. Jesus' point was that when one is wealthy that person may be willing to "serve God" but not completely. When it comes to depending on God for the forgiveness of one's sins, we find it hard to admit we are nothing when we think we have everything. The man Jesus was talking to was pursuing God according to his own heart.

It is not enough to want to please God. The true test of being God's children is a willingness to give up everything if asked to do so. This is hard when one feels he has most everything.

Yes it is. Jesus said that you are only supposed to keep enough of your money to survive. The rest is supposed to be used to help those less fortunate. He also said that a rich man cannot go to heaven

Only if you are rich with ill gotten gain. If God gives you riches, then you should thank God and give to others freely as God has given you. Money is good to pay the bills, but the love of money is the root of all evil.

It is a sin to love money. Being rich just means you're successful at what you do or did, but when you let money consume you that you forget about being a Christian, then we have a problem.

There are many types of riches. God gives us the power to get wealth so God can establish His covenant in the earth. I want to finance preachers who preach the gospel. Satellite air time costs big bucks. God can get His message out and souls can get saved.
So depends on why you want the money. What is you assignment. And if you are ready for it. Proverbs, God increases without sorrow.
All men who hooked up with God were made rich- Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph--have you even read the book- Bible?
God doesn't want you a slave to riches, money.
You are the master, the money the servant.
God wants you to fellowship with Him, not money.
So what do you think about at night? during the day? money, or God?
