Is it true that Free Masons & Co-Masons cannot mingle?

Yes and no.
Members of legitimate Masonic Lodges are forbidden from engaging in "Masonic Communication" with members of illegitimate co-Masonry lodges. "Masonic Communication" includes attending Lodge or official Lodge functions, participation in Degree work, etc. It does not include general discussions or debate about Masonry.
So While a Mason may not visit or attend a co-Mason lodge, it does not prevent members of the different groups from maintaining friendships and social interaction outside of Masonry, nor does it prohibit members from engaging in general discussion or debate about Masonry.
