for one converting from Catholicism to Judaism
My Mother's religion is none of your business Mike Michaels and FYI I will tell you she was born Catholic and died Catholic so why that comment?

I don't understand what you mean by welcoming. They'll accept you, sure, but you don't just convert to Judaism like one can with Christianity and Islam. It takes a year, sometimes more, until you are considered Jewish (you have to go through all the Jewish holidays.) In addition, you have to meet with a rabbi, who will ask you 3 times if you really want to convert, because it is a lot of work and commitment and they want you to be sure this is what you want to do, and if you accept all 3 times, your studies can begin.
