Is my best friend in an abusive relationship?

This guy I hooked my best friend up with seemed really cool at first. I mean they have a lot in common. After talking to him for a few days he began telling me how much he was in love with my friend and he just seemed overly enthused. Then he'd start getting angry when he couldn't hang out with her. He got pissed off when her and I went on our senior trip. He tells me about how he hates his life and how he cutts himself and gets high off of markers. He constantly tells me how much he hates life and how pissed he is that he couldn't hang with my friend after school for more than a hour. The only thing us that he doesn't tell my friend any if this....he acts completely normal around her. But i know that if/ when they break up he is going to go physco. My friend and I are going to college next yr while he'll still be in high school.....even though he's nice to my friend, something just doesn't feel right to me. So what do u all think? I need advice on how to Handle it and also any of ur comments and ur opinions would be nice
