is my pink convict cichlid/bloody parrot fish pregnant?

according to the pet shop women, i have what looks to be a pink convict cichlid crossed with a bloody parrot cichlid. i recently noticed the bigger of the two, looks like it has something hanging out of its rear, and it isint "poop" it has also been clearing out an area of gravel by making a large divot. the other is smaller and has spots of orange which i would think is the male. are my fish about to have some babies? if so what should i do! thanks!
 
I think what you have is commonly refered to as a jellybean cichlid. If that is the case (a picture would help some), then your fish is sterile, and has some other kind of problem.
