I'd hardly say Tom Cruise or Will Smith are "washed up". Will Smith is actually considered one of the hottest actors in Hollywood. I don't agree with their religious beliefs, but they are free to believe what they want.

You could make the same argument for washed up celebrities who become born-again Christians or convert to Islam.
