Baptists cannot agree among themselves on doctrines. And they cannot agree on their roots. Some Baptists do not consider themselves Protestants but as outgrowth of the Anabaptists. Other Baptists consider themselves to be outgrowth of of English Separatism and historically different from the Anabaptists. They came into existence in the early 17th century.
