Is the Eastern Conference a joke? The 7th place team is the Bobcats at 7-10. O.O?

If the 14th place team on the Western Conference, the Timberwolves, was in the Eastern Conference, they would be 1 game behind 8th place.

A 7-10 team in 7th place....

Yet in the West, a 10-7 team cannot make the playoffs.

How is that fair?
 
EC has more weaker teams than the west

here is an example
Charlotte has 7-10 win-loss record and rank no. 7 over all in the East

New Orleans has also 7-10 record yet they sits no. 12 in the West

obviously they will have .412 PCT
 
Not enough Good teams besides the Celtics are the only Winning team in the Entire Atlantic Division, so this tells me Its a Weak Conference even weaker Division, Nets 0-17, Knicks 4-11. Sixers 5-9.

What's wrong here.
 
Well, this has always been regarded as a problem in the NBA... The teams in the Western Conference are generally MUCH stronger than the Eastern Conference. In the Western Conference, a winning percentage of .600 might barely guarantee you a position in the postseason. On the other hand, the Eastern Conference playoff cut is often barely above or on the .500 winning percentage level. But, knowing this, the weakest teams are often the West.

If the NBA were to use a system where out of all the teams, the top 16 overall make the playoffs, I would pretty be certain that the only teams from the East that would make it are the Magic, Cavaliers, Celtics, Heat, and maybe the Hawks. That's 5 teams out of 16!

This is a problem, but the teams are divided geographically... There's really nothing the NBA can do about it unless they switch to a system where the best 16 teams overall make the postseason!
 
Yes, that is how much the teams sucks. The bulls, I think are like 6-9 and they are eight!Not Fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
What do you mean, fair?

Sure it's "fair". If you're in a certain city, you're in a certain conference.
 
The East has been a joke since Jordan left, how does this surprise you?
 
Because the only teams in the East that are Title Contenders against the Lakers are

CELTICS
CLEVELAND
ORLANDO

the others.... just for profit

compare that to the west ... you got really tough contenders

LAKERS
SPURS
SUNS
MAVERICKS
JAZZ
NUGGETS


3 contenders against 6 contenders... which conference is now stronger... as you can really see right now. WEST dominates right... obviously... this has really been a for a looooong time... but some teams of the EAST are really small compared to the WEST that why they lack $$$ to become contenders and gain quality players
 
that's the difference between westcoast and eastcoast. eastcost is a weaker side of the country. no wonder why they have a team that has a 0-17 record(new jersey nets)
 
actually t-wolves are in 15th place, not 14.

and i dont understand how they would be 1 game behind 8th place in the easter conference, they would be in 14th place because they have a .118 win percentage and knicks(14th place) have a .222
