Is the futuristic sci-fi novel based on genetic engineering too overdone?

I've been struggling to come up with a solid y/a book idea recently, and this is the closest I've come to something decent. Is it too overdone to work? Or is it a breath of fresh air in a market that's completely vampire saturated? Any advice on how to make it work?

It's been done before, certainly, but if you can pull it off with an interesting way to make it work, then great.

I love the whole vampire rage as I'm into horror, but sci-fi is a favourite of mine too.

Maybe try to function on an alien planet where one alien who was kidnapped from an earth bound planet, to then discover they have been genetically modified and engineered.

I think this may be a new spin on things, also cloning could be something new to add.

Good luck!
