I don't like Planet hollywood it's just like New York New York, the second you step out of the elevator, you are greeted with noise, traffic, and allot of drunk people playing in the casino. Luxor however is much nicer.
The Luxor is my favourite hotel in Las Vegas. But currently, the standard rooms at Planet Hollywood are the nicer pick. The reason is the rooms at Planet Hollywood have all been recently renovated during the change over from it being The Aladdin.
The Luxor is currently undergoing a major renovation, the Pyramid rooms are last on the list. The Pyramid houses all the standard rooms and spa suites. The Tower rooms are the newer, bigger, better rooms. I actually prefer to stay in the Pyramid even though the rooms are "standard" the reason being the unique shape, it's proximity to the attractions level and casino. also the view down into the Pyramid is a novelty that never fails to leave me awestruck. Also riding the inclinators up/down is a strange feeling that's also a novelty on it's own.
While I usually recommend The Luxor as the best hotel for "Newbies" to Vegas. If you intend to spend a lot of time in your room, Planet Hollywood is currently the better option from your choices if you would like a standard room.
Planet Hollywood is a better standard of hotel but I prefer the Luxor as other peopel have said its noisy and confusing and I just dont like the feel if you know whatI mean. It is also far more expensive than the luxor.
