Is there a law that prohibits people from advertising something that is not for sale?

I replied to an advertisement for a vehicle and gave a deposit but now the owner said the car is not for sale. (I believe they intend to sell the car to someone else for more money)
Isn't there a law that would prevent this?

As long as there was no contract and your deposit is returned there is nothing u can do. but in the future make sure u get a receipt and an agreement as well
