is there any free files that can be dowloaded that will improve internet speed?

please provide links, and reviews, or suggestions if possible
i have Verizon DSL, which is supposed to be fast, and once was really fast, but now it is extremely slow for me, any ideas why?
 
Dont try to find softwares for increasing internet speed they are all crap. Specially for dialup users use opera for fastbrowsing , get freedownloadmanager for downloading of files and use a firewall to stop unwanted connections. That is it all the rest depends upon speed of your connection. There may be little tweaks but they wont affect too much.
 
I completely agree with Waqass. The software companies that make download accelerators promise a lot, but the programs can't keep those promises. Do not waste your time, downloading or installing a accelerator.
Give your computer a good clean up. Perhaps it helps
