agnostic, depressed as an atheist...? do you think there's any signficance as to why I was fine without a religion as an agnostic, depressed as an atheist, and now slightly confused and doubtful as a religious person?

When you get these doubts make Este'atha (seeking Allah's refuge from Shaytan) by saying: Aouth bellah min alshaytan alrajeem.

May Allah guide us all to the right path

The Buddha taught a couple of things that might help you. He taught to walk the middle path, because either extreme causes one to have a closed mind to the other side. He also taught to find your own answers, to challenge what you are taught, and draw your own conclusions based on logic and reason. So, as an atheist, you were on one extreme, closed off to the possibilities of anything metaphysical. As a religious person, you are on the other side of the path, listening to what is taught and accepting it with blind faith, closing off your mind to the possibility that there is no metaphysical entity or force. As an agnostic, you had your mind open and you were actively or passively seeking answers.

As an agnostic, you really didn't care about the state of the universe, and thus was fine without a religion.

As an atheist, you felt like everyone and everything's assumption, aside from science, was wrong. The thought of dying and then being six feet deep in a pine box isn't exactly the most reassuring thought ever.

As a religious person, you're confused because you want to reconcile science and religion together to get a fuller understanding of the universe, but your atheistic past still makes you remember the feelings of "nothing is right except for science" which leaves you being doubtful.

I think.

Maybe you should just forget all about religion and find another subject to occupy your time.
Perhaps you could spend more time with your friends, listen to music etc etc.

Religion plays no part in my life.I only answer questions on religion, because they catch my eye whilst looking at this site as a whole.

I also enjoy controversy.

Agnostics have a wide range of choice and that provides them a cushion.Being decisive one way or the other, leaves you with few choices .I don't think that you can ever be a truly religious person in your life.Still, keep an open mind and you may find your way.

It's OK to be confused and doubtful, especially that you have a different religion from those around you, and you're relatively young, and we all need the reassurance from family and friends and people we look up to, and when you don't get that, no matter how convinced you are, you become a little bit weaker. I understand how you feel sister, and I hope God gives you the strength to stand up for what you believe in, because you obviously have a more difficult test than many of us, but you already passed the hardest part, which is choosing a way.
Faith changes, there're days when it's strong (usually before an exam or when you're scared or when you have just heard a very spiritual dep lecture), and there are days when it' s weaker (like when you're busy with so many things, or you're happy without anything to fear or pray for, or when you have been around people who disagree with you for a long time), that's only human. I say you should look for ways to strengthen you belief, listen to lectures, read, find muslim friends...and Inshalla you'll grow out of all the confusion and doubts that you have. That's what I do whenever I feel that my faith is on the weaker side.

Solomon said the more knowledge, the more sorrow, for one must divide properly that which is revealed.

For at times, the more talents the more one can face certain circumstances. For there was more to be gained through the refining of the gold.

The sacred months are 44 1/2 or 1335 days or 3 7/24 years, the law is received by angels through The Right Hand of God and The Power of God in the trumpets feasts of the supper of God and raptura and the sealing of the Chosen Priests and Judges from among all peoples, nations, and languages.

You need to start studying all the world's religions and thoughts, and go ahead and ask God questions in your mind, and seek after what is in your heart.
