Is there any way to get close captioning or subtitles on a DVD without them?

My dad is hard of hearing. I bought him the Josh Groban, Awake DVD. I forgot to check to see if it came with subtitles. It doesn't. Is there any way -- perhaps an innovation that I'm not aware of -- to add either close captioning or subtitles to the screen. Maybe even a separate piece of hardware? Anything???
He is not satisfied with just listening to the music. He wants to see the words! I know that eventually I could just try to track down the lyrics to each and every song and print them out for him, but that would not be my first choice!
Thanks very much in advance for any information that could be of help!

Sorry, the answer is No. If the data for closed captions and subtitles is not already on the DVD, there is no invention that can magically create them. You would need a device that would be capable of hearing and understanding human speech and singing under many different conditions, that could work without any delay. Even powerful computers can't do this yet reliably.
