Hurricane Tour Crosses? For the new aeropro drive GT (nadal racquet) -- how is this hybrid of VS gut 16g on mains and Pro hurricane tour 17g on crosses?
Thinking of stringing it 59 for VS and 56/57 for PHT on crosses.
What's the difference between the 16g hybrid and the 17g hybrid?
Thanks.

It's a great combination. The softness and resiliency of gut with the power and control of a top poly like Pro Hurricane Tour (PHT).

You will have to play with tension, but Babolat does not recommend stringing PHT at a lower tension. (On the other hand, Luxilon Big Banger which is the big competitor to PHT does recommend about 10% lower).

17g is thinner that 16g so it bites into the ball a little better for more spin and control. But 17g being thinner does break more easily. Since PHT is much more long lasting than Gut, it might be a very good idea to use PHT 17 with VS Gut 16.

One more thing, since the PHT mains will take away a bit of the subtle feel of Gut, you could use a cheaper gut that VS. Babolat makes a Gut called Tonic which should cost abouut $8 less for a half-pack. Also Head makes a rather decent gut already in a half pack at a good price

Vs gut are pretty fancy strings, imo if you don't understand the differences in strings as to why you should be stringing them so early on.
