If so, will they ever see that he's just baiting them into supporting his tyrannical, communist agenda? Every despotic, authoritarian government gained power by feigning support for the working man and the downtrodden.

Actually every tyrannical government rose to power by claiming to defend people from some other imagined conspiracy, usually by the Jews. The Protocols of the Elders of Zion gave rise to both Bolshevism, the White Movement, and Nazism.
