Islam in its basic principles , is a correction of Judaism and Christianity .
Islam= corrected Judaism = corrected Christianity. as simple as that !
Islam , through the Quran says that God sent Muhammed to correct what people did to the previous messages , through previous messengers (including notorious ones :Abraham, Moses, Jesus..etc).Muslims believe that Judaism and Christianity were the same faith. and that priests , rabbis , etc... changed things through the years and centuries to suit what they needed : for material and power purpose mainly. as an example , Islam teaches that Jesus (as a messenger of God) was fought and hated by high Rabbis , because he came to correct the falsehood that Judaism had come to. and because his teachings (who were no different than Moses's and other messengers before him) , were against their profits... they did all they could to get him killed.
Islam (or Mohammed) never said that it's a new religion.

Yes, Mohammed drew heavily from Judaism and Christianity when making up his religion.

Almost all of the prophets mentioned in the Qu'ran were taken from the Old Testament. However, the details of their stories tend to vary a bit.

I suspect that if Mohammed had been from the east side of the Arabian peninsula, instead of the west side, Islam would probably have ended up being a lot more like Zoroastrianism. If he had lived further east he would then have been more heavily influenced by the culture of the Persian Empire than the Roman Empire.

Mohammed doesn't seem to have been real capable of original thought. I'm sure he would have stolen ideas from whatever sources he encountered.

That is nonsense! Islam was invented about 600 AD. It has nothing to do with Judaism.

Judaism is about the Law of God given to one nation to share with the world. Islam refuses to acknowledge Israel's special relationship with God! In fact, islam is ANTI-Judaism!

In logic as well as in law, "historical precedent" means that the burden of proof rests on those who set forth new theories and not on those whose ideas have already been verified. The old tests the new. The already established authority judges any new claims to authority.

Since Islam came along many centuries after Christianity, and Judaism is even older, Islam has the burden of proof and not the Bible. The Bible tests and judges the Qur'an. Because the Bible and The Qur'an contradict each other, the Bible must logically be given first place as the older authority. The Qur'an is in error until it proves itself.

Muslims violate the principle of historical precedent by asserting that Islam does not have the burden of proof and that the Qur'an judges the Bible.

O People of the Book, why do you dispute about Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed till after him? Do you not understand? Behold! You are they who disputed about that of which you had knowledge; why then do you dispute about that of which you have no knowledge? And Allah knows while you know not. Abraham was not a Jew nor a Christian, but he was (an) upright (man), who submitted (to the will of God); and he was not one of the polytheists (Qur’an 3:65-67).

Muslims contend that every nation (tribe) on earth was sent a God given messenger. We also believe that the message was one and the same; that they taught peace by submission to God's will. That phrase translated into Arabic is Islam! Muslims believe that all the prophets taught the same oneness of God, and we contend that they never came to establish division among people. Therefore we believe that they never came to establish a faith called Judaism or Christianity for that matter. In fact is there anywhere in the Bible where any of the prophets claimed to have preached a religion called Judaism or Christianity? Christians contend that salvation is with the death and resurrection of Jesus. Judaism establishes that salvation is in keeping with the laws of Moses. However, we wish to know how did people come to heaven before these two methods of 'salvation' were established? This is the point that Allah drives home in the above mentioned Surah [Chapter 3:65-67]. Muslims see in Judaism that God is wrapped up in the affairs of the people of Israel and we wonder about the plight of the Chinese, East Pacific Islanders, and the Native American peoples etc. Were any prophets sent to these people? Did they receive any divine guidance or did they burn in hell until the message of Judaism and Christianity reached them?
