Islam's Mahdi prophecy is prophecy of return of John the Baptist?

in islam, there are a few contradictions about imam mahdis. for syiah, imam mahdi is the descendant of prophet muhammad and he was said to be vanished long time ago. and he will finally show himself up with jesus to fight the anti-christ, fake messiah. while for sunni, some would regard imam mahdi as true and some would say no to him. as the quran doesn't say anything about imam mahdi and some of the hadiths used are not strong enough, imam mahdi has only be regarded as not to believe or to believe.

The Mahdi and John the Baptist are two different men. Period. John the Baptist was Christian, Mahdi was Muslim. The Mahdi is the 12th Imam who disappeared hundreds of years after John the Baptist and will return, supposedly.

Totally different person, John the Baptist is a prophet, While Saidina Al mahdi is a decendent of the Prophet, who'll bring peace to the world and kill the Anti-Christ (Dajjal).
However, Shiite believe he is already born, but missing. But not fur us Sunni, he'll be born when Allah want him to be born.

people like mysticism. Death is the door of no return. why wait, save yourself by being a good person.
