granted.. but it is clear that isreal seems to be able to kill far FAR more civilians than the lebanese even with their 300 rockets in a week. also if you take a look at the timeline the rockets only started going off in such large numbers AFTER isreal was already bombing lebanon.
to be fair Hezbollah cant flyer Haifa can it? It cant tell Haifa where its aiming in the city can it? The fact that they are sticking to the same targets is saving Israeli lives.
If the US use this situation to attack Syria then it would prove beyond all reasonable doubt that George W Bush had been repeatedly thrown down a flight of stairs as a baby. But I dont think they will, using this situation to get near enough to Syria to shell it from the sea is below even the US administration.
I would be surprised if Hezbollah dared to take a shot at a US warship, it would be the final nail in their coffin. The US anti missile systems are pretty good and the security around the dock will be tight, although Iran did test one of their new anti ship weapons a while ago, so hopefully Hezbollah aren't in possession of one.
Do you really think we'd miss all 5 of those guys? I'm not knocking the guys serving; they are some of the finest, most professional soldiers on Earth. But get real; At the high point, there were only 11,000 or so British troops in Iraq, as compared to the 125,000 US, less than a 10th of our total. The British troops are doing a fantastic job in difficult area, but let's not get silly trying to weigh their impact on the overall operation. Without them, it would indeed be more difficult for the US, but not on scale much higher than "significant inconvienience".

I think theres about 11000 British troops in total (Afghanistan and Iraq). I genuinely think that were they to leave, the US would struggle to fill that gap, Basra has been quite a calm area, but I think a lot of that is to do with it being British rather than American troops in coofftopicnd. I think initially the US would have to replace British troops at a ratio of 2:1, and I think even the US would struggle to get another 20k troops equipped and mobilised.
If Hezbollah had more weapontry and WMD they would be using them. There is no doubt. They are only whining about it because they are getting the bad end of it.

I'm sitting on almost 9000 preped and ready just waiting for their orders right now at our base. I talked to an Army SNCO just yesterday who was telling me their training cycle is over, now it's just a matter of if they get deployed. I'm not sure it would be as much of a struggle as you think, however, it would mess up the current rotational schedule.
