iTouch, Internet: Can It Be Removed Or Blocked.....?

I'm Getting a new ipod touch, my parents are a little reluctant to get me one because of its internet access. I know you can't get on the internet if there is no wireless signal but Is there some way to have the Internet access removed, blocked, or any other way?
