Contact a local club and ask,one of the considerations is the welding, nothing worse than having it break up under you.I used a MONTY for several years ,it did me ok over the rough in Spain,if the gears etc are good quallity, the bars ,pedals and cranks ,almost any make will be ok,most use the same gear cluster.

If you just use it to go from and to work (less than 20 min) and the occasional drive to Tesco or so, I wouldn't spend more than 300 pounds on it. The more value, the more likely it gets stolen.

You can however use this voucher to also buy equipment: light, lock, helmet, bell, mud guards and so on. Ah, nearly forgot: get a 3 years free service for your bike as well! That way your company pays for service insurance so, say, you have a puncher in 8 months, you only pay Halfords material to fix it, not the labour. That's really worth doing if you intend to keep your bike for longer than 1 year!

Best thing is to go there and get advise in your local store. They can often tailor a bike to your needs - and might have local offers that safe you even more money.

... hope this could help.

leisurelakesbikes.com, what shall i choose? basically i am limited to halfords or www.leisurelakesbikes.com as its thru a cycle 2 work scheme, the notable bikes i c are

halfords - basically only a carrera fury - yes carrera hmmmm very dodgy but good spec and not bad reviews

on leisure effort i see the following: Marin Bobcat Trail Bike 2009/Specialized Hardrock Pro Disc Bike 2009/Cannondale F6 Bike 2009, Scott Aspect 45 Mountain Bike 2009

what do u reckon is best, or any others u can reccomend? 500 pound it maximum as well as i cannot add more on this scheme.

cheers
more technical answers please, i am being a bit snobby as i dont really want an halfords only brand still have my 1993 rockhopper.
