It doesn't mean anything of the sort.
The reason you can't imagine the future is because you have no idea what the future will be like.
Try to imagine what it was really like 50 years ago - the World and our own little corner of it has changed beyond recognition.
When I was born, do you think my parents could have imagined television, penicillin, polio shots, frozen foods, contact lenses, videos and the pill? Could they have foreseen radar, credit cards, split atoms, laser beams and ballpoint pens? And what about dish-washers, tumble dryers, electric blankets, air conditioners, disposable napkins, home computers, jumbo jets, heart transplants, motorways, homes with showers, central heating and cars in every garage.
If you are unable to imagine what the World will be like, how can you imagine yourself in it?
