Okay last night I decided to finally get rid of that annoying message box that was telling me to update to iOS 4.0.2 whenever I plugged my iPod Touch 3rd Generation into iTunes. I want to jailbreak the iPod, and I've been searching all over the entire freakin' internet for a way that I can downgrade from iOS 4.0.2 to iOS 4.0 so I can use the jailbreak method provided by Comex. I found links to download earlier firmware versions and I followed the steps to downgrade my iPod; hold Shift and press Restore (I'm running Windows 7 Professional). But whenever iTunes starts to verify the update/downgrade, it gives me an error message and tells me that it can't be downgraded!!! What in the world am I supposed to do now?!?!?! Is it impossible for me to jailbreak my iPod Touch now??? I'm gonna have to wait until a new jailbreak comes out??? Again, my iPod Touch is an MC Model and that makes it soooooo hard to find a way around these firmwares and softwares and whatever crap I need to downgrade and jailbreak. If anyone has detailed and legitimate knowledge on this topic, please provide assistance-- it would be greatly appreciated.
iOS 4.0.2 : main problem is that I cannot downgrade to iOS 4.0, I know that if I can downgrade to iOS 4.0, then I can use jailbreakme.com and everything will be fine. However, the downgrade is halted when iTunes gives the error message and tells me that it cannot be downgraded!!! The issue is the "downgrade"!!!

Here's an article on how to do so. Hope it helps!
