Ok, I have this app on my iPod Touch called Twinkle.
It's basically where you chat with other people
Some people are able to use smiley faces
I asked them how I could do this and they said you have to jail break
I don't know what this is, and I don't know if I should do it, because I don't know what it is...

Can somebody in full detail explain to me what jailbreaking is, and how you do it?
Also, is it something I should do? From what I've heard it sounds kind of suspicious..
