jogging outdoors for weight loss?

So, I"ve got alot of weight to lose, meaning over 100 pounds to lose and I am very out of shape. I've recently begun walking/jogging outside for the past 2 days or so. I really enjoyed it and I plan to stick to this for life, but I need to know...now that I"m trying to lose weight what is the proper jogging technique to lose weight for someone that is as overweight as I am? I have changed my diet as well, no more fattening or fried foods and I only drink water and green tea. What I've been doing is just walking most of the time, and jogging for as long as I can ( which right now is under 3 minutes) until my chest feels extremely tight and my throat begins to feel like it's closing up. Thanks for the advice.
