That might depend upon who your listener is, also your intent.
I have a friend who is a clerk that serves clients who are mental patients. She has and displays the highest regard for each one, and assists with great respect. She understands that I was raised on wacky humor and often speak without thinking first. Were I to say your statement, she'd take it at face value and see it as humorous.
She knows I love people regardless of certain challenges they may be facing and wouldn't feel to take issue with me over the word choice.
