Just bought an Samsung Smart TV And Dish Network. Bad quality? Help.?

I just bought a Samsung smart tv '46 and I have dish network. When I connected it, the picture is not that great, I messed around with picture options but not as sharp as I hoped it would be. The sales person even gave me a better cable to connect it to my dish. How can I get the best quality? Plus how do I take off the soap opera effect?
 
First, do you have the HD package for dish network? Assuming you do, go into the settings on the dvr and make sure that the output setting is correct. Also check your tv settings to make sure that it is set for an HD signal. If you call dish network, they can talk you through the dvr settings.
I've not heard of the "soap opera effect" though, sorry.
