K&n Filter in a truck?

OK so i bought a k&n filter for my 1998 Chevy 1500 and they said to get more power i should take off the top of the air box so i did that but i also want to take off the bottom one to. but i need something to set the filter on or at least support it,what should i use?

You should have bought the cone filter with the chrome piping and air sensor adaptor. You will get more noise and power with that setup, sounds like you have the stock replacment, problem with taking the top off is that it will suck in more heat, cold air is more dense. Only problem with cold air setup is rain. I have aem on my g35 and scion xb, lol, it came with the scion when I bought it.
