The Los Angeles Times reports that police have taken into custody one of two men suspected in the brutal beating of Bryan Stow in a parking lot at Dodger Stadium.Early on Sunday morning a SWAT team, with guns drawn, raided an apartment in East Los Angeles and captured a man who police say was involved in the assault on Stow, a San Francisco Giants fan who had attended opening day March 31.
It's not yet an arrest, and others have been detained in relation to the case — possibly as witnesses or suspects.
This comes 11 days after a reward was posted and the first of hundreds of billboards were put up in Los Angeles and Orange counties that feature composite likenesses of two suspects. The reward reportedly has swelled to at least $200,000.
Though he recently opened his eyes, Stow — a 42-year-old father of two — has suffered brain damage and faces an uncertain recovery.
Instant reaction: Hallelujah. Second reaction: Before we get too excited about bringing Stow's assailants to justice, the Times' report gives reason for caution.
The Times interviewed the apartment building's manager, Maritza Camacho, who witnessed the raid. Among the people removed from the apartment was:
"[A] man with a bald head and tattoos on his neck and arms, she said, a description that appeared to match the vague sketches released by police of one of the two suspects. She added that he did not appear to resist being taken into custody.

Police officials declined to give details, including the name of the suspect, saying only that the investigation was ongoing.
Police might not be releasing his name because he's a juvenile. Or, it could be a tactic to help them find Bad Guy No. 2. Or, they're not certain he's guilty. Hopefully, it's the middle reason. The police have been under a lot of pressure — from within and without — to find the criminals. We all want justice.

The Stow beating also been the scariest part of a nightmare season with the Dodgers, who have come under huge criticism for security problems in their home ballpark. They also have a losing team, and splintering ownership has been sparring with Major League Baseball over control of the club.
