The Boston Celtics appeared to be on their way to a Game 5 win against the Miami Heat. Then everything changed when LeBron James played like LeBron James down the stretch. Often criticized for not playing well at the end of playoff games, LeBron scored the Heat’s final ten points as Miami sprinted to a 97-87 victory. The win advances the Heat to the Eastern Conference Finals.
LeBron finished the game with 33 points, seven rebounds and four assists. He hit 11-of-20 shots from the field, including 5-of-7 three-pointers. The Heat were led by Dwyane Wade’s 34 points. Wade also chipped in ten rebounds, five assists and four steals and hit 13-of-19 shots from the floor.
The Celtics stayed in the game with a balanced attack. Ray Allen had 18 points, while Kevin Garnett totaled 15 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Paul Pierce had 12 points, however Rajon Rondo was obviously slowed by his elbow injury — finishing with six points and three assists in 30 minutes.
The Heat will next take on the winner of the series between the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks. The Bulls are leading the series 3-2 and are heavily favored to end up taking on the Heat.
