i need to download some music
i was thinking of getting Limewire but i heard it gives Viruses

does it?

and if it does what if i download a song
burn it to a cd then delete it from my computer

would that keep my computer safe..??

any tips or other programs to download music for free and safer

Yes, Limewire is very bad..You should download Frostwire instead. It's said to be safer, and I haven't had any trouble with it at all!
 
Limewire doesn't give viruses, you might inadvertently download one, but you can look for signs. Usually viruses that show up in the search results will have what you typed in your search exactly how you typed it (all lower cases and misspellings too). Look for additional things in the file name like .mp3 extension and make sure it has a bitrate associated with it.

As far as downloading the program, it won't give you a virus, just don't let it install a toolbar or anything extra. I always try searching for files one word at a time, so if the whole name shows up in the file name, it probably isn't a virus, or skip a word in the name. Like I said earlier, virus programs will usually show up in your search exactly how YOU typed it.
 
Limewire does have viruses, but only if you download them... When searching for a file to download, make sure you check out the size, quality, etc of it to make sure it isn't a virus. If it's a really small file and doesn't have much of description, probably a virus.
