Looking for good anime/manga heroine~?

I... am SO sick of those weak, pathetic girls who practically devote their LIFE after some guy they 'love'. GROW SOME BACKBONE! SERIOUSLY! Anyways... I'm looking for a herione who is STRONG... both mentally and physically. I think I like it better when the guy falls for the girl first, and I don't like it if the girl gets overly emotional, or if they're just plain annoying.

.. and... are there any animes/mangas out there... where the girl actually saves the GUY instead of the other way around? I'm still waiting for one of those to appear. x)

I liked Ouran High School Host Club, Skip Beat, and Kaichou Wa Maid-sama (my favorite~ Misaki is so strong and bold... and REALLY smart! :P)

-Yoruichi Shihoin from Bleach. She's strong and is an important support for Kisuke Urahara, but they are a team.
-Maka Albarn from Soul Eater. She does have her emotional moments, but she's clearly strong and has plenty of backbone. Very few shonen manga actually have a heroine for a main character. Like Yoruichi, she is Soul's partner and meister, no less and no more.
-Wilhelmina Carmel from Shakugan no Shana. In the first season of the anime, Shana saves the guy, Yuji. She falls for him first and has trouble understanding her own feelings due to not being familiar with emotions and human traditions, but I assure you she's very strong. In any case, Wilhelmina is AWESOME. She doesn't show many emotions, but she's very strong and a really cool character that supports Shana.
-Sunako Nakahara from Yamato Nadesico Shichi Henge. She's kickbutt, and in several occasions it has been proven that she doesn't need Kyohei's help in strength because there they are equals, however, those two do develop a relationship, and she has used his help because she's not quite adept at socializing and else due to...darkness issues. XD What's interesting is that neither will cede in admitting or even realizing they like each other, but my bet is that the guy will admit it first, and they're close to the climax in the manga.
-Rukia Kuchiki from Bleach. Yes, she was rescued by Ichigo in the first arc. She is not as strong as him, but you know? What is intersting is that she is a main pillar in which he relies as well; she's the one that knows how to take him out of depression, pushes him to face his fears. She is one strong woman if you look at her closely even though the spotlight is seldom placed over her, but hey, she defeated an Espada without Bankai, so that says something.
-Tatsuki Arisawa from Bleach: She's the second strongest girl in Japan, has a strong personality that's not the type you trifle with. :D
-Retsu Unohana from Bleach too. She is not shown much, but she is NOT the type you say 'no' to. >D I love her!
-Yuuko Ichihara from xxxHolic. She ALWAYS gets it her way. :3
-Ennis from Baccano!. She's pretty strong and a match for Firo, if not better, in a fight, although as a homunculus does not possess much familiarity with emotions. Girls in this series are pretty interesting in their own right.
-Saya from Blood +. She's a strong girl, and there's no room for doubt about that. Haji is always there as her support, but her own inner strenght for the sake of others before herself is admirable.
-Nami and Robin from One Piece. They may not be considered the strongest physically of their crew, but they are key members. They are both undoubtedly smart. They both had pasts that can bring tears to your eyes and still fight on. Slowly, they grow stronger, especially Nami.
-Hinata Hyuga from Naruto. Now, you might say I'm being ridiculous if you have not gotten to the point where she faces Pain, but she really is amazing. She began as a very shy girl with self-esteem issues, but slowly she changed thanks to Naruto's influence. She kept training day after day to be accepted, to be someone they could respect for who she is and gain strength. Her character growth is absolutely amazing, and the results are shown when she faced Pain. She knew she didn't have the power to face him, but her determination there was beyond anything her initial self would've imagined doing.
-Mika Seido from Geneshaft. She not only proves she can be helpful despite being a girl, she proves genetics does not determine fully who you are or what you can do. She is willful and interesting.
-Hinagiku Katsura from Hayate no Gotoku. She is so awesome even girls fall for her! She's strong and skillful in everything. She may have her weak points, such as her fear of heights, but she is deteremined and selfless, always willing to put up a fight.

At least these are the most prominent examples I can give.
