Great that you want to lose weight. Cycling is a great way to exercise for cardio-vascular fitness and toning the muscles in the lower body and abdomen. I suggest you go for two rides per day and include hills and flat areas if possible. Have you got a computer on your bike which will measure the distance travelled? If you have it is a great help as you could set yourself a target of doing for example 5 miles (kms) one day and 6 each ride the next day and 7 the next or go for greater increments. Cycling is great as it will not put pressure on your joints. Try doing some slow riding to warm up and cool down and do some speed work in between. Make sure you work up a sweat to burn up the calories. Good luck with your weight loss. You also need to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and good quality protein such as chicken, cottage cheese and fish and cut out all junk food, cakes, biscuits and high fat foods.

I think you have to drive to to an area where you can get the most speed and uninterrupted biking with it. My son biked all the time for miles on the city streets, but I think your bike is for off roading and rougher conditions. So, you will need to exit the city and take a long ride. You will definitely lose weight. That is how my husband used to lose large amounts of weight, plus dieting.

Leg exercises such as biking (unfortunately) will not help you lose weight the fastest. Diet plays a major role in weight loss believe it or not. Losing weight can be REALLY hard for some people, but doing running or biking will not help you lose that the fastest. It will strength your leg muscles and possibly your abdomen, which will make you thinner to a certain extent.

Don't get me wrong though, it will help you lose weight. Exercise really isn't the best way to lose weight, but it's whatever works for you. Try it out and if it works, great. If it doesn't, you might want to look for some alternatives.

You should notice weight loss in a week, easily.
