Maintaining my goal weight... please help!!?

Hi, I was wondering about maintaining my weight. I calculated my daily calories that i need, which is about 1000 cals, and say if i went on a diet of 600-700 cals for a long time and then reached my weight goal - can I go back to eating 1000 calories to maintain the weight i lost or would I have to continue eating 600-700 cals to stay that same goal weight that i reached?
