We had my male APBT neutered on Monday, and that night he started trying to lick his incision site, so we put the E-collar(lampshade/cone collar) that we purchased on him.
I figured it was actually doing its job of preventing him from licking the site, but come to find out it isn't.
Just a moment ago, he was laying next to me and he lifted his leg and turned to lick. Curious to see if it was really preventing him from getting to his balls, I watched only to see him actually lick them! I quickly told him no and he stopped, but what the heck?
I thought this thing was supposed to prevent him from being able to do that?! I'm still going to leave the cone on him until the 10-day healing period is up, but this really bugs me, lol.
On a side note, this is the first time I've seen him try to lick himself, so there isn't a risk of infection(we were just at the vet yesterday, and they said there's no infection there/starting to form).
