Wait a minute. If the Helicopters are over budget that would be a problem for the previous administration ... wouldn't it?

These choppers didn't show up overnight. It had to have been requested before President Obama was elected. Why would John McCain tell him to get rid of something that started long before now ... and do you think he would be saying the same thing if he (John McCain) had won the election?
.
Please don't take this innocent question personally. I would ask the same question if John McCain had won the election and Barack Obama told him the same thing.

Thanks and thumbs up to all who answer! Just give me time to get back and read your answers.
I really appreciate your answers. I asked the same question in Elections and got a few nasty answers.

It is a good attempt to show he wants to save us money, Do you think he wants to run for president in 4 more years?
Go to the citizens against government waste site if you want to become more depressed.
I think all govt officials need to tighten their belts they should suffer like the people are going to have to do.
Good question!!

Old John has to say something now and again, doesn't he?
Even if it's a lot of drivel.

You got it....Obama NEVER ordered new planes or choppers....Andy Card was the one who had them ordered....after Bush and Scott McClellan got stuck on the helipad with a broken down chopper, Card says he had had enough.
"The program has its roots in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. After the attacks, former President Bush flew on Air Force One, a customized Boeing 747, from Florida to military bases in Louisiana and Nebraska before returning to Washington. The chaos of that day underscored the need for secure communications and the commander in chief's ability to remain in contact at all times.
Some of the existing fleet of 19 presidential helicopters, any of which is known as "Marine One" when the president is aboard, are more than 30 years old. Several have broken down on presidential trips, a concern that prompted then-White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card to begin the replacement process in 2002."

Apparently President Obama agrees as he ordered Gates to find out why they're coming in overbudget and stated that he's perfectly happy with the helicopter he has. As for McCain that was just an example he used of defense spending always ending up overbudget. If they're taking competative bids, those companies should be held to the original budget. No change orders.
